- Use the dustbins and garbage receptacles for disposing all garbage and rubbish. Do not throw them in parks, on beaches, into the sea or public places. Please help keep the Odisha litter free.
- Drinking & smoking are prohibited in the area.
- Do not use plastic bags. Plastic carry-bags are banned in Odisha. If anybody is caught with a plastic carry-bag, he/she can be fined either or imprisoned for Certern period or both.
- Do not hunt any kind of birds and animals both on land and on sea. Please help us in preserving Natural habitat.
- Remember to carry a little cash always & keep yourself hydrated during noon time.
- Do remember to carry all your important travel documents and all the emergency contacts.
- Dont light anything on the way or throw any burning match or any other burning material on the road or into the forest area.

- Do not exceed the approved speed of 30 kmph while going to any Hill Station.

Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over the Puri, Khurda and Ganjam districts of Odisha state on the east coast of India, at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal, covering an area of over 1,100 km. It is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest brackish water lagoon in the world after The New Caledonian barrier reef. It has been listed as a tentative UNESCO World Heritage site.
It is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent. The lake is home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals.
Centuries ago, Chilika used to be a bay, its harbor providing a resting stop for ships on the way east. Being a port, it was an important center for maritime trade. Chilika was given sanctuary status in 1972 and became a Ramsar Site in 1982.
Kalijai Temple – Located on an island in the Chilika Lake, Kalijai Temple is the temple worships Goddess Kalijai. The deity is highly revered among the locals as well as in their folklores and fables. The island is also a mesmerizing destination for pilgrims as well as tourists and can be reached via a boat from Chilika Lake. Makar Sankranti is celebrated with great pomp and cheer at the temple that attracts numerous travelers & devotees.

Chilka Lake
The lagoon hosts over 160 species of birds in the peak migratory season. Birds from as far as the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, Aral Sea and other remote parts of Russia, Kirghiz steppes of Kazakhstan, Central and southeast Asia, Ladakh and Himalayas come here. These birds travel great distances; migratory birds probably follow much longer routes than the straight lines, possibly up to 12,000 km, to reach Chilika Lake. In 1981, Chilika Lake was designated the first Indian wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. According to a survey, 45 percent of the birds are terrestrial in nature, 32 percent are waterfowl, and 23 percent are waders. The lagoon is also home to 14 types of raptors. Around 152 rare and endangered Irrawaddy dolphins have also been reported. Plus, the lagoon supports about 37 species of reptiles and amphibians.
