- To visit Duduma, one needs to take a vehicle from koraput and travel about 90 km via Maachkund where formal permission from Authorities needs to be obtained to visit the Power plant.
- People who have health problems like asthma, high or low Blood Pressure problems shouldn’t go to the waterfall as you have descend a mountain to go near the waterfall.
- Wear a hat, Hiking shoes to go down. Since there are no railing to go down the steps.
- Be extremely careful while descending as one wrong step will make you dead.
- Camera/Video allowed
Duduma Falls plunges from a height of more than 550 feet and is located on the border of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The view point is easily accessible by road and is a 2 hours journey from Koraput. Duduma Falls is one of the tallest ‘plunge’ type waterfalls in India and holds the third rank in Orissa in terms of height of the water column.This waterfall finds its origin from the River Machkund and its water is the backbone of the Machkund Hydro Electric Power Project. Duduma waterfall is famouse for electricity production .The waterfall is considered one of the best tourist spots in Odisha where people can sit back and relax. The deep green forests help to soothe the soul of travellers while the towering mountains add more points to the overall appeal of this tourism attraction in Odisha. Duduma has two sub waterfall, one drops down in Andhra Pradesh and the other in Odisha. Travellers who often come to Odisha know that the state is known for its tribal culture and would be surprised to know that “the bondas” which is an important tribe live close to this enigmatic fall. Excellent place for a day out for those who love to enjoy in nature’s lap. A quiet and peaceful region that would help you to rejuvenate and re-discover yourself. Duduma waterfall is about 547 ft high which formed "Machkund river". By using the Machkund river, a large hydroelectric project formed at that place which is also called "Machkund Hydro Electric Power Project" which is located at Onukudeli. I would highly recommend hiring a vehicle since the entire area is very beautiful with lakes, hills, streams... and you can stop anywhere you want. The lake (reservoir) itself is very scenic and the local villagers can provide you a boat ride if you request them to. Good luck !!
