- Swimming is banned in most Lakes. Violation is a punishable offense.
- Use the dustbins and garbage receptacles for disposing all garbage and rubbish. Do not throw them in parks, on beaches, into the sea or public places. Please help keep the Odisha litter free.
- Drinking & smoking are prohibited in the area.
- Do not use plastic bags. Plastic carry-bags are banned in Odisha. If anybody is caught with a plastic carry-bag, he/she can be fined either or imprisoned for Certern period or both.
- Do not hunt any kind of birds and animals both on land and on sea. Please help us in preserving Natural habitat.
- Remember to carry a little cash always & keep yourself hydrated during noon time.
- Do remember to carry all your important travel documents and all the emergency contacts.
- Dont light anything on the way or throw any burning match or any other burning material on the road or into the forest area.
- Do Wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes.
- Beware of wildlife animals and insects.
- Do not exceed the approved speed of 30 kmph while going to any Hill Station.
- Always keep First aid kit while in trip.
- In doubt always take help of the Local Police.
Kanjia Lake is a natural lake on the northern outskirts of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. While the main lake covers 75 hectares (190 acres), the total wetland covers an area of 105 hectares (260 acres) with the scuba diving facility. It has a rich biodiversity and is a wetland of national importance which is helpful for maintaining the city’s ecology.
The lake’s environment includes 37 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles, 10 species of amphibians, 46 species of fish and three species of prawns, 10 species of sub-merged macrophytes, 14 species of floating macrophytes and 24 species of emergent macrophytes.
Carving a scenic landscape, this lake with its abundant fish population is recognized as a ‘Wetland of National Prominence’ by the Government of India. Visitors to the zoo and botanical garden enjoy the peaceful shores of the lake that creates a refreshing aura to the locality,used for recreational boating by visitors.

Kanjia Lake
The lake's ecosystem consists of 37 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles, 10 species of amphibians, 46 species of fish and three species of prawns, 10 species of sub-merged macrophytes, 14 species of floating macrophytes and 24 species of emergent macrophytes. The faunal diversity of Kanjia Lake includes 39 spp. of avi-fauna (more than 5100 birds recorded during 2009-10), 14 spp. of Reptiles (includes snakes, tortoises, lizards), 10 spp. of Amphibians, 46 spp. of fish fauna and 3 spp. of prawns.
