The first work of the Mukteshwar temple is found from the Somavamshi era. The presence of a star, which is not part of any other temple in this area, makes this temple unique and some representations indicate that builders were the start of a new culture. How. The Panigrahi Temple is placed in place of construction during the year 966 CE and it is believed that Somavamshi King Yayati constructed the temple. He also connects this temple with the story of Kirtivas, but the Postish is not accepted as the Kirtivas relates to Lingaraj, although both gods and goddesses were Shiva at the same time. There is no historical evidence on this conclusion that Yayati constructed the temple.
