SCSTRTI has been conferred the Nodal TRI Status by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MQTA), Government of India in 2008-09. In 2014, this Institute was recognized as a National Resource Centre by MoTA, Gol for matters relating to implementation of FRA. The key objective of the NRC is to function as the "National Knowledge Hub and Technical Arm of MoTA" to address the capacity and knowledge gap in tribal development and implementing FRA. Considering the outstanding contributions of this Institute in various fields of activities, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India has approved the institution of setting up of National Tribal Research Center (NTRC) as an autonomous entity within this Institute in 2016. Registration of this NTRC has been done in the mean time and all efforts are onto make this functional.
