Bhubaneswar, the ‘Cathedral City ’ was once the Capital of ancient Kalinga Kingdom. The name Bhubaneswar means, ‘The Lord Of the Universe’ and is modern capital of Odisha.
In Bhubaneswar the Lord Siva is known as Tri-Bhubaneswar or “Lord of Three World” from which the city derive the name.
Bhubaneswar is a city located in Odisha district of north eastern India and flourished as a creator of Hindu Creature from the 7th century CE.
The history of Bhubaneswar includes art, life, and beliefs of different ancient civilization that extended within the region, which explains why the city has been forever of enormous interest to the historians, epigraphists, and archeologist, alike. The city was once home of more than 7000 shrines. However, today only a few number of shrine remains. Bhubaneswar combine with Puri and Konark forms the famous Golden Triangle Of Odisha.
The Capital of Odisha was Cuttack. The Capital was shifted to Bhubaneswar in the year 1948, just after India gained its Independence on 13th April 1948.
