Mangaljodi Dos And Don’ts:
- For your boat safari make sure you use the services of the licensed boats only
- Ensure that you are silent so as not to disturb the wildlife
- Do not use or dispose off any plastic in the wetlands and on the safari.
- Enjoy the beauty of nature and do not get close to the birds or eggs for pictures.
The village here has a history of birds protection with time. Everyone here are very concerned over the birds migrating to this zone. A good 2 hours drive from bhubaneswar with nice countryside view on the highway. A must visit place between november to february to enjoy nature. Can be visited with young children, hiwever, should be cautious for the waterfront on either sides of the road approaching the watchtowers made for public. They also have boats which can be hired. Slightly costly rides but can be negotiated. Should carry eatables, water and all necessaries as you would hardly find any big shops and may be no shops at all once you slide off from the national highway into the village leading to Mangalajodi. Keep your vehicles fuel topped up as there are no petrol pumps nearby the site. Those who love birding, this place is a heaven.You will find huge number of migratory birds here like Pelican, Godwit,King fisher, little cormorant, black headed Ibis. Whereever you go, you will find only birds.Please take nice camera or DSLR camera for photography. I have never seen such a place having some many migratory birds.Please visit this place, you will remember for your lifetime.
