Lingaraj Temple was built by the King Jajati Keshari in 11th century and is believed the oldest Lord Shiva temple in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Lingaraj Temple is the biggest temple in Bhubaneswar. The 180 foot high temple with a jagamohana, natamandir and bhogamandapa is surrounded by 7 feet thick gigantic wall. The spacious Temple courtyard filled with more than 100 shrines, remains unparalleled. Bhubaneswar is the ancient capital of the Kalinga Empire.
